Description
Sometimes life leaves a mark... Most days, Andrea doesn't know whether she wants to kiss Tanner or punch him in the gut. Tanner knows he and Andrea have had an epic love/hate relationship for as long as he can remember, but he wants more love than hate from her. He wants her. Now. Tomorrow. But the more he gets to know show more her, the more it becomes obvious that Andrea has a problem. She's teetering on the edge, and every time he tries to catch her, she slips through his fingers. Andrea's life is spiraling out of control, and it doesn't matter that Tanner wants to save her, because when everything falls apart and she's speeding toward rock-bottom, only she can save herself. It has been a very long time since I read [b:Frigid|16122034|Frigid (Frigid, #1)|J. Lynn|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1364364323s/16122034.jpg|21943079] but I do remember really enjoying these two as characters. I'm a huge fan of the "hate-to-love" you trope so I was very excited to start this one.
Unfortunately, the immaturity and somewhat aimless plotline turned me off rather suddenly.
These two remind me of the kids who tease each other on the playground because they are secretly in love with the other. Again, I love this set-up. Only I felt like these two were still those little kids in 21 year old bodies. I found it to be really off-putting and not at all entertaining.
There is the potential show more for a deeper storyline (Andrea's drinking problem, Tanner's "player" attitude, their "secret" past) and maybe it gets elaborated on later in the book but I couldn't get past the awkward dialogue and the sexy moment attempts to see if it does.
This was a complete miss for me! show less

This is the second book on the Frigid series, Andrea and Tanner's story is not an easy one, there are a lot of issues they both have to overcome, their demons are real and this book addresses them in a great way, the whole plotline complements the characters and everything they go through, I really liked the mature side of the author that shows she can defiantly write anything she wants and succeed. That's why she is one of my top favorite authors and has been for years, no need to read the blurb or even see the title or cover, I will read anything by her.
"You know, usually the people who smile the most and laugh the loudest are the ones who...suffer the most."
Thank you JLA for never leaving me disappointed. This was another great read that had my emotions all over the place. I laughed out loud and I cried. I love when books can pull you in, and can bring out so many different emotions. This book did it all.
I love the relationship between Tanner and Andrea. They have a very playful and back and forth relationship. In the end, Tanner is there for her in ways no other man has been before. I think the dynamics between the two were great.
This book is dealing with mental health issues and addiction. Andrea is dealing with panic attacks, anxiety, and depression. She is also in denial about show more these issues and is self-medicating with alcohol. Andrea also has past family history of substance abuse. I have not read many books that deal with alcoholism or anxiety issues, and I thought it was a great twist to the story. I did take off half a star due to the lack of intensity to the treatment for Andrea. This may be due to working in my field myself, and I just wanted more around it. However; I still really enjoyed it and I liked how this brings awareness to these issues including the severity of your actions when drinking and driving.
Also, I loved how much of a role Kyler and Syd played in the story. Most spin-offs only mention previous characters, but they were in most of the chapters which I enjoyed.
Overall, another amazing read and I cannot wait to grab the next one! show less

I love Jennifer's writing and pre-ordered this ages ago. She writes with humor and her characters are amazing and I connect so easily with them. Her romances are scorching especially in the NA category and I can't wait to see how she writes a hot firefighter and this new female lead.
I liked Andrea, though it was obvious she was in a lot of pain. She drinks a lot and has to take pills to sleep. We see the vulnerability when the usually easy going banter between her and Tanner. There is tension between them but until the book started, its always been words, but now she's danced with him and given him a kiss, albeit on the cheek. They both find each other attractive but there has been the animosity because she sees him as a player and he show more sees her as someone who drinks too much.
I like Tanner, especially when we are in his perspective. He is legit worried about her and he does sweet things like help her fend off grabby hands, take her to her apartment and watch over to make sure she doesn't get sick.
We get to check in with Kyler and Syd and Tanner and Andrea are about to go to a cabin in West Virginia with them, although a different one than all went down in Frigid.
Tanner and Andrea get into some fights about how much she drinks, and she doesn't really acknowledge that it is a problem for her. She writes off her insecurities, and reasons that she could stop when and if she wanted to. It isn't until the end and some pretty scary consequences that really help her to accept and want help. To won up to that she makes bad decisions surrounding drinking, and that she has some imbalances that aren't helped by alcohol.
I appreciate her character growth and how she finally accepted that she had some problems, but that doesn't make her any less of a person. She began to value her friendship with Syd more, as well as putting the romantic advances with Tanner on hold while she works on herself. I like how he learns more about what she's going through and how he speaks up even about hard issues instead of ignoring.
The hope and change in characters made the ending wonderful, and I loved their journey together and the place that they ended up.
Bottom Line: Great romance and exploration of Andrea's anxieties and drinking. show less

Ragingly disappointing- there was no magic or life to the characters.
