This is the second book in this series and apparently at least the author’s third book involving Allison. An observation with the prior book was that you don’t really get to know much about Allison beyond what she can do, what’s she trying to learn and references to Samantha from the Vampire For Hire series. For the most part that’s still true is this book, however having learned something about her from that prior book, I found this to be less of an issue with this one.
Allison is still learning the witch side of things with her ghostly mentor, Millicent. And a new, very likeable character gets added to the cast.
Emotions are kind of high level, meaning you read about them but don’t get in to the head of the character and feel them. However, for me at least, the story, mystery and situations are interesting enough to grab me and keep my interest enough to want to read the next book.
A quick read via KindleUnlimited. I don’t suggest starting with this book. It would be best to have at least read The Witch and the Gentleman first, and even better to have read something in the Vampire For Hire series. ( )
