Having finally gotten around to reading this booklet after having owned it for a decade, it turned out to be more useful than was expected. The authors are not just describing fortifications, they also give you a sense of how the coastal defense mission was exercised by the United States Army, how the forts existed as infrastructure, and what it took to man these installations.
