Kate Winston is a sales representative for Tasmanian Tasers, selling stun guns to women for protection. She's broke and her mortgage is due. When the ladies at her demonstration party will only buy a stun gun if she gets each of them a signed copy of author Stu Summer's newest book, she has no choice but to agree--even if it means following him to the Outer Banks on the coast of North Carolina. But the one thing she never counted on is falling in love. Can she get past her major trust issues and follow her heart?

Stu Summers is a best-selling author--at least that's what the world believes. In reality he's a fraud, a phony, who never wrote any of the books that bear his name. For years he's rode on the talent of an anonymous "holy ghostwriter" but when he meets the determined Kate Winston his world slowly starts to unravel. He only wanted to use her for his next novel, he never planned to fall in love. How far will he go to win her trust and prove his love?

When I find new authors I'm often skeptical about their books and whether I will like them. I want to be entertained and drawn into the story. It's a great feeling when I find a book that keeps me engaged to the point that I hate to put it down. Summer's Love is just that kind of book for me. Kate and her stun gun parties were so entertaining, especially with her brother being the guinea pig. Stu's "holy ghostwriter", Harriet was the motherly type that believed in doing the right thing. She was a no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is old lady that has the ability to put a six foot-plus bodyguard in his place. I enjoyed her character immensely. She needs a "granny sleuth solves mysteries" story of her own! Red was also another character I loved. She was a guest at Kate's stun gun party that wound up playing a larger part later on in the book. She was a tough shoot-now-and-ask-questions-later type of woman. But underneath the tough exterior she had a big heart and a protective nature and only wanted Kate to be happy. Stu was in his own little world in the beginning but he soon realized that sometimes you need to put the feelings of others ahead of your own. I loved his transformation. Both Stu and Kate were passive when it came to God and religion. They weren't sure there was even a God to put their trust in. But their relationship with God soon evolved into something more solid and it was great to see the changes in them both.

This was a book about love and the sacrifices a person will make to prove their love for another. It was about trust and how each of us need someone we can count on. It was about relationships, with each other and our Creator, and how necessary they are in our lives. It was a fun read and very entertaining. The characters are the kind you hope to read more about and the setting was amazing. Sailing on the ocean in a sailboat? Very romantic and very engaging. I hated to put it down and I didn't want to see it end. I loved the whole plot--it gives us a little peak into the world of authors and, being an avid reader, that was a treat. I would love for this to be book one in a series. (Hint to the author and publisher!) If you have never read anything by Stu Summers I recommend you start here. If you like contemporary romance with the right amount of humor woven in, you'll love this book! Highly recommended! ( )
