Perhaps my hopes were a little too high after reading and re-reading the excellent Z is for Moose. This book is ostensibly about shapes, but of course Moose wants to be involved as well. Zebra assures the narrator that he'll take care of it, but in fact gets tangled up - literally - until Moose saves the day with a circle. Cute, but it doesn't have the detail, cleverness, and humor of Z is for Moose.
Zebra and his friend Moose are back for another book! This time Zebra is trying to prepare a book about shapes, but Moose is so busy checking everything out that he accidentally starts to mess up the whole book! Together he and Zebra must fix it before it ends.

I was a little bit uncertain how this book would work, but it turned out to be just as funny as its predecessor, Z is for Moose. Again, I think it works best for a slightly older audience who already knows all their shapes so that they actually grasp the humor going on here. I read this book with a 4-year-old and a 7-year-old, and they both enjoyed it.

Once again, Paul O. Zelinsky provides fun and interesting illustrations that are essential to telling the story being conveyed. I show more appreciated all the humorous tidbits sprinkled throughout this book, like the back cover including the Moose interrupting the author's biography blurb and the addition of a review of their previous book by a cat. (That review of course being simply "Meow.") Overall, I recommend this book if you are looking for a silly read to share with the young ones in your life. show less
It would be a lot easier to teach about the shapes without that rowdy moose...but then we'd miss out on lessons about friendship.
Both kids loved this book. They giggled all the way through Circle, Square, Moose. I wasn't surprised that my kids found this book hilarious. I liked it, too. The Moose device is unexpected and cute. Even though it is repetitive, it is funny on every page.

Pros: An adorable plot device and cute illustrations will have readers laughing and asking to read Circle, Square, Moose again.

A great follow up to Z is for Moose.
Can't rate, cuz can't get past just how wrong it is to see these quadrupeds walking around using forelimbs as arms and wearing shirts but *no pants*!
book about shapes, with moose getting in the way
