This is beautiful -- imagery, kindness, and imagination. Excellent quiet book for shy peoples, and a gorgeous undersea adventure. Reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes.
Will provoke a lot of wonderment. How will you interpret it? How will your child? Is there an imaginary friend involved? Is it better to have only one best friend, or can you have more than one close friend? How will you feel about it when you reread it, after talking it over with your child?
