Sequel to The Living, Shy and his friends make it back to California only to find disaster and disorder. They've got *stuff* (I'm avoiding any spoilers in case you haven't started the series yet) they have to get to the authorities, but with Los Angeles - or what's left of it - divided up into zones and everyone worried about disease, just surviving the trip across town will be a challenge. Worse still, some people know who Shy is and what he has, and are hunting him down.
The second in the series isn't *quite* as predictable as the first, but it was still pretty much standard dystopian fare. Yet it's still a fun read - maybe not as fun as the first one, but still a fun book. (I received an advance copy from Amazon Vine.)

I did not read this first book in the series but I was not lost reading this one. I really enjoyed reading it.
Full of action and mystery. Loved this sequel to the thrilling The Living.
FROM PUBLISHER: For those left living, it's kill or be killed. When Shy pulled himself from the wreckage of the Paradise Cruise luxury liner, he met Addie. Addie was rich and blond, and with no one else to trust, she told Shy a secret she never should have revealed.
It's a secret that people would kill for - have killed for - and she has the piece that could turn everything on its ear. The problem? Shy has no idea where Addie is. Back home in California seems logical, but there are more ways to die back home than Shy could ever have guessed. And thanks to what Shy knows now, he's a moving target.

seguel to the Living, as the story continues Shy and Carmen set out to bring the cure to the disease to the right people.
