Description

In honor of her grandmother, who passed away, Annie does her first dance at potlatch in her Yupik Eskimo village. Based on a Yupik Eskimo tradition.

I think the story reasonably conveyed the Eskimo tradition of naming a baby after a deceased relative. It also reasonably conveyed an Eskimo girl's first dance. I still didn't think it was the best though. I would maybe use this story in a school curriculum to illustrate the differing customs of other cultures.
