This book begins with a thirteen page account of the Battle of the Marne which it advises the tourist to read before going on to the descriptive part, so that he or she has an understanding of the action as a whole; the operations described here lasted from 6 to 13 September 1914. Descriptions provide something of the history of the towns and places of interest, with pre-war and wartime photos, as well as a guide to the battlefields in the area.… (more)
