Josh has taken over ownership of the farm and is learning new methods to make it profitable but we have hit fall of Wall Street and the beginning of the depression in Canada. To help with the cash flow they board the school teacher, Matilda, and take on a hired girl, Mary for propriety. There is more drama here, sadness, money problems and questioning of God's motives. But this is the conclusion of the series and everything is resolved, with some suspension of belief or belief in miracles depending on your beliefs. This and the first book are the best of the series.
This is part of Janette Oke's "Seasons of the Heart" series, following young Josh as he grows up from a 12 year-old to a grown man supporting a family. Delightful story, full of faith and overcoming real-life struggles.
Josh is in a quandary. Matilda is vivacious and lovely: Mary is sweet and supportive. And they won't remain single for very long. Janette Oke (pronounced "oak") was born in Champion, Alberta, Canada, during the depression years. She graduated from Mountain View Bible College in Didsbury, Alberta where she met her husband, Edward. She and Edward married in 1957 and went on to serve churches in Calgary and Edmonton, Canada, and Indiana. Oke published her first book, Love Comes show more Softly, in 1979. The book experienced immediate success because works of fiction were a virtually unknown genre in the Christian publishing industry. Oke has gone on to publish some 36 romance novels, earning her the 1992 President's Award from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. She is the author of the "Love Comes Softly" and the "Prairie Legacy" series of books. Oke enjoys a large reading audience primarily comprised of teenagers, homemakers and working women.
