I love the creativity this book has! Because there are no words it would leave students to make a story of they own! I would use this in very low elementary grades.
Although there are no words, the illustrations effectively tell the story. They show how the mouse builds his house out of the pages in the book. I would include it in a PreK or Kindergarten classroom, because it encourages the children to "pretend read" and understand plot. For these reasons, I would leave it in the reading corner and not in a lesson plan.
The House by Monique Felix is a creative way of teaching children colors. It starts off with a blank page and then the mouse begins creating a house out of the pages and gradually adding color throughout. This book would be great for preschoolers or Kindergartners learning their colors.
A tricky book for some young readers to get because there are no words! however this is a great way to introduce story telling to a class of young folks!
Cute Wordless Book - a review of "The House"
This is one of those books that doesn't have words so you and your children are free to make up stories. I have found that this kind of book is very good for children on the verge of reading as it helps them to understand the ideas that make up a story; such as beginning, middle, and end.
In this book, a little mouse is shown sitting 'in a book'. He/she then gets the notion of taking a page from the book and making a little house for himself/herself. The mouse bites, nibbles, folds his/her way into a home. Note: my description does not do justice to this little book.
Four Stars. [B-]. The artwork is fantastic, the premise simple, yet thought provoking. I'd think children as old as 7 might enjoy show more this sweet book. You can't tell it by the pictures, but the cover of the book (where the mouse is looking out) is physically missing. show less

In this wordless picture book there is a mouse who is ripping the book progressively. The mouse then makes the paper it has ripped into a home. This is a very creative and cute wordless picture book.
This wordless book is about a mouse travel throughout the house on each page as it move on. I like this book because it very funny and cute. I will use it on my class to compare this mouse to little kids and what make them so interest about a house. It suitable for k-6.
