This is a wonderfully moving story about two people who are connected by one horrific event. The events of 9/11 have altered both their lives and when they meet again years later this common bond is still a huge factor. I found this story very emotional and encompassing everything the holiday season should. Love, trust, and forgiveness. I highly recommend this book for everyone's holiday reading list. Goodness and Light is one of four Christmas romance novels set in New York City. Elena and Lucas meet when Elena is in town for the holidays to help her sister, but as it turns out they met many years before. Both lost a parent in the Twin Towers on 9/11 and have personal guilt with how their relationship was left with their parent, but have come to handle it differently. Lucas has used his feelings to help others whether in volunteering at a charity or just helping people on the street in need. Elena however has chosen to hide from New York City and everyone in it. While I thought the book was well written, I would have liked a bit stronger character in Elena. While of course she had a lot of emotions to deal with, others in the book did too and it felt as though they should have expected a little more of her than they did. The foil of Lucas being so "good" and her being so "bad" (at least in her own mind) was almost too opposite for believability. no reviews | add a review
