Warning. Do not read this book at work! When you snort and laugh you will get very strange looks from your co-workers! I really enjoyed this book. Maybe it is because I was born in the north but my roots are set deeply in the South. Maybe it's because I saw some family members in a few of the stories. It's a quick read filled with laughs that will make you think. The author gets his point across with humor.

This collection of humorous episodes definitely felt like "musings". Random snippets of life were described in an entertaining way in each episode, although some of the pranks seemed too cruel for my taste.

Such a fun book to pick up and read at one's leisure. The stories are humorous and thought provoking. It is easy to envision the sons playing tricks on their father. (i.e. painting the deer's nose red at Christmas). Is this a great work of literature? No. But it is a book that depicts the rural life of a family that enjoys life and each other.

This amusing book of stories was so much fun to read. I like the title too, and how Wally weaves it into his stories. The humorous stories remind of Garrison Keillor's books which I thoroughly enjoy. My favorite one is the first one in the book, for I can relate to it, and how our children who considered themselves wiser than we act at times. Check it out, I highly recommend it.

I received a print copy of this book from a giveaway on LibraryThing.com and the following is my honest review for it.

It appears I’m once again posting the first review for a book I’ve read here on Amazon which makes it clear I couldn’t be influenced by any other review.

As I read “The Musing of a Carolina Yankee” I had difficulty deciding whether the author is a guy from the northern east corner of the United States who believes is a “Good Old Southern Boy,” or a “Good Old Southern Boy” who has gotten lost up in the north and can’t for the life of him find his way back home to Carolina.

Regardless of which story I read I found a typical stereotyped good old southern boy element which added a certain charm to each one. show more Had the author not included this I feel the stories would be rather bland. The use of southern pronunciations throughout the book also added to each story’s rustic quality.

The shortness of each story makes it quite conducive to read the book when you have nothing else to do.

Without anyone hold a shotgun at my back I’m happy to give this 4 no make it 5 STARS

I like to keep a book in my car to read while waiting for appointments, dining alone. Short stories are perfect for this purpose, and I have really enjoyed what I have read so far. Each story is a view into the life of the author - humor, inspiration, a little grumbling about this and that. I think I would like to have Wally Amidon for a friend.

I received this book free from the publisher through the LibraryThing Early Reviewer program. It is a funny book with some laugh out loud stories. One of the funniest is "A Christmas Story" about when he went hunting on Christmas Eve day with his son and his son's friend. The friend shot a buck with a medium sized rack of antlers. His son asked him to take it to the processor. I can't say more w/o going into spoiler territory.
It is a short book--124p and stories are short.
I give it 4 out 5 stars.
