Kelly ist ein ehemaliger Offizier, Crapgame ist Spezialist für krumme Geschäfte. Oddball ein Panzerfahrer und Big Joe Zugführer. Mitten im Krieg wollen die vier harten Burschen abkassieren. Ein deutscher Goldtransport soll das Gespann zu Millionären machen. Brutal und mit grimmigem Witz stößt der "Stoßtrupp Gold" ins Hinterland vor. Ganz und gar unfreiwillig wird das Kommando schließlich doch noch zu tapferen Helden.
