It’s nap time on the farm and Mama and Papa put Baby down for his nap. But Baby has other ideas, he’d rather polka with the polka-dotted pig! Each time his parents put him back in bed that crazy Baby is up again dancing with another stuffed animal. Eventually, his parents give up and they make music and dance until Baby falls asleep with visions of “polka parties still a-dancing in his head.”
Named a Notable Children’s Book by the American Library Association in 2005, this little book is energetic and brightly illustrated. Mama and Papa are slightly exaggerated; Mama in her purple high heels and papa with his lopsided glasses.

This book is just fantastic! Ady loved being read this story and I can only imagine she'll like it even more when she gets older! I will definitely be adding this book to our library. A very good rhythm and super cute illustrations! The open the flap aspect of the book is also really cool!
This is a funny rhyming picture book that plays with the story of a baby that doesn’t want to take a nap. Instead he is doing the boogie woogie with the barnyard animals. Finally Mom and Dad join in and the family dances until baby finally goes to sleep. He then dreams of dancing while his parents are finally afforded the time to do their chores. The rhyming plays a key role in the fluidity of the story and the flip tabs that reveal the animals allows the reader to interact with the text.
Cute story about a baby who is set down for bed but wants to dance the polka instead.
This story would be best for kindergarten. It had two sentences on each page with fold out pictures.
A fun, musical read!
