Cute book that shows the influence that parents have on offspring and that offspring can have on parents, in a really sweet way. The illustrations are still really cute. They aren't super finessed or smooth, and I like the doodle style that has more complicated artistic techniques lying underneath.
Tad and Dad is a children's book about a little tadpole who wants to be just like his Dad. One text feature about this book that would be really great to go over in a guided reading lesson would be reading with expression. The book includes lots of sound effects like "SPLOOOOOOSH" and "OOF" and readers can be taught how to exaggerate these sounds and read with feeling. The book has some very adorable images and shows the father son relationship between tad and dad. This book could also be used in a phonics lesson using substitution. Students could explore why tad and dad sound different and what makes those two words similar and different. I could see this book being used in first grade and possibly kindergarten because of its show more vocabulary level. show less
Great toddler & early preschool about a grumpy grownup frog & his rapidly growing tadpole who insists on sharing the parental bed. Storytimes: swampy sounds, frogs, familiar parent/kid situations.
Funny father-son frog tale.
love the father-son relationship!
