Toby thinks his big sister, Clemmie, is the best! He loves her unconditionally and enthusiastically. He accepts what she can’t do (walk, talk, etc.) and raves about all the fun they have together. The fact that she has multiple disabilities is an afterthought of no great importance to Toby. The illustrations highlight the siblings’ imaginative play, incorporating Clemmie’s wheelchair. Very touching story promoting diversity and illustrating acceptance and unconditional love. (Kristin B. review from award presentation)

This is a great book to read to children to help them understand that they are in control of them, their feeling and their body. Giving them self worth, and to begin to recognize their own values.

This book is about accepting one’s self. From how they feel (sad, loved, scared), making decisions, understanding we all have needs and that we learn every day. It helps children learn how everyone is different and that being different is what makes everyone special.
This book talks about why it’s important to be yourself, it also talks about emotions and how it’s important to express those in positive and socially acceptable ways.
