Description
Sound is an abstract concept for most people. We spend our lives blocking out the static in order to focus on what we believe is important. But what if, when the clarity fades into silence, it's the obscure background noise that you would give anything to hold on to? I've always been a fighter. With parents who barely managed to stay out of jail and two little brothers who narrowly avoided foster care, I became skilled at dodging the punches life threw at me. Growing up, I didn't have show more anything I could call my own, but from the moment I met Eliza Reynolds, she was always mine. I became utterly addicted to her and the escape from reality we provided each other. Throughout the years, she had boyfriends and I had girlfriends, but there wasn't a single night that I didn't hear her voice. You see, meeting the love of my life at age thirteen was never part of my plan. However, neither was gradually going deaf at the age of twenty-one. They both happened anyway. Now, I'm on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life. Fighting for my career. Fighting the impending silence. Fighting for her. Every night, just before falling asleep, she sighs as a final conscious breath leaves her. I think that's the sound I'll miss the most. show lessTags

FGMAMTC Blog #TopReads2015 Author & Characters Interview (New Scene from the Page brothers!)
FGMAMTC Blog Review Excerpt & Giveaway
This story has it all— awesome fighting (I lurve me a fighter), tragedy, romance, action, sweetness. It's freaking outstanding!
Till Page and Eliza Reynolds are forgotten kids, the ones that slip through the cracks because no grown up loves them. While trying to escape their realities, they happen to meet. The meeting changes the course of both of their lives. They become each other's person. For people who have never had someone in their corner, it's like stepping from the darkness into the light. The loneliness is removed. For both life continues to be a struggle, but they know they have the other show more to lean on.
The story follows them through being teens, adults, friends, lovers and things in between. I fell for both characters. Their personalities are perfect. *Alert* Nothing is annoying. They are salt of the Earth people. Life dumps so much on them and especially at such young ages, but they keep plodding along. The ups and downs are tremendous.
The writing is exceptional. It has the most heartfelt moments, the sad tears, the happy tears, the sexy, the touching...and much more rolled in. Just thinking about the playfulness between the leads and the family aspect with them and the side characters makes me feel so sentimental. I'm still invested in the story. It really 'took me there.' If these people were real, I could just sit around and watch them all day.
I could ramble on and on about my passion for this book, but I won't. And I'm not giving away any more details on it either. This story needs to be experienced without any spoilers. Every reader needs the full intensity.
I am ardently waiting for the next book.
I hated seeing those faces. I might have only been in love with one Page man, but I absolutely loved all of the Page boys.

Silence before the storm
Did any one else imagine Rocky while reading this, or is it just me??
Holy hotness. Till...What kind of name is Till anyway? A smokin hot name is what it is! Till..Till TILL Even though sometimes his fantasy made me want to punch him, he was still the best book-boyfriend EVER!
I feel sometimes I am an indecisive bitch when it comes to reading books. Sometimes authors fill the pages with useless information that has me screaming get on with it mate!! And while others get right down to the nitty gritty surpassing my most wanted topics. Therefore there is no hope for authors to write the perfect book, because just like we are wives and mothers there is always going to be something to improve upon. So get the hell show more over it. And I did....moving forward.
Till and Eliza's story was awesome. They weren't rich snobs, they were poor humble REAL people. Real, honest and relate-able people. I understand his need to want to stay in his fantasy, the possibility their relationship could change from going to the next level does in fact happen.
Now on to a very small annoyance. The skipping of scenes. When Eliza mentioned Till was not the only person she slept with:
Wait, what?? Was I sleeping through that chapter?? And Till had other slamps? OH and what about ElizaTaking the place of Q when the man with a gun decides to take revenge?? She is pregnant for Gods sake!! Think of you unborn child stupid head
but that is all. I loved this story! I loved that little family, even though Flint threw me for a loop for a second there, great read! show less

Pretty well done New Adult book. This author is getting better. There is a fairly good amount of angst and some of the plotting is overwrought but that is what the NA genre is really about. I liked the stuff I learned about the behind the scenes world of boxing.
This book was like a metamorphosis. It starts out in what I would categorize as Young Adult then switches to New Adult but with a secondary group of her adult characters from the Wrecked and Ruined series which made me one happy reader. The story itself also had tons of different emotions running thought it, sadness, heartbreak, laughter, a great sense of family and friends, sexy boxers and towards the end intense suspense.
Even though this is Eliza Reynolds and Till Page story that starts when they are 13 I think to get the full effect of the story and characters reading the Wrecked and Ruined series beforehand would enrich the story for the reader so much more. These two had worthless parents and they bonded in an abandoned building show more for many years. Eliza only had herself to worry about but Till had two younger brothers that he had to look out for. Along with that weight Till also was told he would eventually become deaf at some point in his life.
How these two beat the odds that were laid at their feet when they were born was not an easy road. Through it all they both knew that they needed the other to get there. For me its so hard to describe this book as there were so many “acts” to it. I loved being back in Slate’s gym and having him mentor Till to not only become the best boxer he could be but also the best brother and man for his woman. The future books in this series will be about Till’s brothers who were young when this book started but we can see the type of men they are going to grow up to be and I know their stories will be just as powerful as Till’s was. show less

Sweet romance
I really wanted to like this book. The characters were likeable. The secondary characters of Flint and Quarry really made this book special. I almost didn’t finish this book. I started this, then shelved it. I read multiple books before I came back to this. I am not a quitter but I struggled to continue reading this. It was good but the plot didn’t capture me.
In my opinion the story lacked focus. Was it supposed to be a family drama with a sexy love story? Or was it intended to be a hot and sweaty romance with the family drama supplying context?
Kudos to the author and editor for the minimal number of grammar and spelling errors.

This is a beautiful and heartbreaking yet up lifting story. It was quite uniquely written as well. We start from when they first met. We go through all the significant parts of their pasts until we come to the present. Then we dive head first into their futures.
Eliza comes from a poor family that doesn't care for her. She is a resourceful, caring, gentle girl who wants more. So when she meets Till things begin to change for her.
Till also comes from a poor family consisting of two dead beat parents and two younger brothers. As the eldest he feels responsible for them which in turn derails some of the plans he has for himself. He wants more from the pathetic life they all have, but that doesn't mean he will give up on them. He endures show more it all for them. Till also happens to be going deaf, but he doesn't like to dwell on that rather depressing fact. As they get older, and things get tougher, Till manages to make boxing an important part of his life. Things only get more crazy and exciting from there.
The love story these two share is just so sweet and passionate. You can't help but smile while reading. All of the action and hardships they endure keep it interesting enough that the story doesn't seem to mushy gushy. And of course all of the minor characters keep the story light and fun.
This is definitely a wonderful story for those who like romance, but need a little action and suspense to go with it. show less

Real feel: 3.75
I'm not a fan of Aly Martinez, not at all. She's good at storytelling but I don't like when the writing is overly dramatic, it irritates me. And to be honest, she seems like one of those authors whose books are full of those *drama queen* moments.
This book wasn't that bad, I really liked the story. Till's background was unique but then again - all those over the top sex scenes were just too much for me.
