“Grief was the vicious enemy of progress.”

Sal’s story was deeply layered, filled with angst and regret and sorrow, and powerful. His past and mistakes that haunt him brought him to the lowest of lows in this book and we saw the raw, broken, and vulnerable side of Sal that we really didn’t see in the previous books. I didn’t love Cassie. Her circular logic in her relentless pursuit of Sal felt contrived but I realize this was necessary for the forward momentum of the plot. She had some tricks up her sleeves for sure, but her demeanor and personality didn’t seem to match what she was tasked to do. Still, Sal and Cassie had history that added depth to their relationship. There were plenty of plot twists and surprises thrown in show more and betrayals I didn’t foresee. The international chase to find and stop the mastermind from infiltrating the US military database had tons of action and strategy. I loved reconnecting with Dean and Zahrah and Brian and Fekiria.

If you enjoy military suspense with a side of romance, you will love The Quiet Professionals series.

FALCON could very well be a story ripped from today’s headlines. Set in modern day Afghanistan the story details one elite military units fight to maintain cyber security as well as the safety and anonymity of valuable military assets. The identity of the person or group perpetrating the attacks is unknown, but the team in honing in on them. As they do the threat increases, the plot thickens, and lives hang in the balance. Ronie Kendig’s explosive ending to The Quiet Professionals Series will keep you reading with rapt attention!

Over the course of the series Kendig has singled out individual team members and focused on how their unique personal struggles have impacted the overall mission. Her characters break the mold of popular show more Christian fiction because they are always a little edgy. In this book, Salvatore “Falcon” Russo is loyal to his brothers in arms, dedicated to the mission, protective, and occasionally hot-tempered. Falcon’s personal struggles with the guilt over his past choices carries a universal message to all Christians — see 2 Corinthians 7:10. The history he shares with Lt. Walker is complicated, which makes for an interesting romantic tension between the two.

There is no room for weak leading ladies in Rapid-Fire Fiction. We saw it with Zahrah Zarrick in RAPTOR 6, as well as Fekiria from HAWK (both ladies make cameo appearances in FALCON). Now we see that the same is true of Lt. Cassandra Walker. While each woman possesses a physical beauty that makes them attractive to the men of Raptor, their bravery, intelligence, and fortitude place them in a class of their own. The women of Raptor are inspiring!

If you have a passion for suspense fiction, FALCON is a must read! Get your copy when the book releases from Shiloh Run Press on May 4th.

Action-packed suspense is the hallmark of Falcon by Ronie Kendig, book 3 in her Quiet Professionals series. With explosions, sniper fire and ambushes, this book is a good choice for those who love military-based fiction. It also has a romance thread to keep fans happy. The novel continues the stories of several characters, so I would recommend that you read the previous books first.

Warrant officer Salvatore Falcon Russo is a member of an elite special forces team based in Afghanistan. As the team comes under attack from enemies on several fronts, he is thrown together with the last person he would choose to join in investigating. Lt. Cassandra Walker proved untrustworthy in the past, and he wants no part of her in his future. But events show more conspire to bring them together one more time. And this time their hearts may be changed.

Falcon plunges the reader right in the middle of military action. Characters are tough and determined. And while there hardness keeps them on task in their missions, they do have a soft side for those who are vulnerable. Main characters Falcon and Cassandra battle grief, guilt and feelings of betrayal. They have to overcome many obstacles before they can trust each other again. The novel is fast-paced and Ronie keeps you guessing as the investigation into the traitor progresses. I never saw the ending coming. I was a bit lost for the first half of the book — I didn’t have enough back story to understand the dynamics of the team and the context of the story. This series definitely needs to be read in order.

If you like romantic suspense with a military focus and non-stop action, then check out Falcon.

Audience: adults.
