This book rhymes to tell a story about a family preparing for Thanksgiving day. At the end of each rhythmic stanza, the turkey is mentioned as the turkey is the most iconic item of a Thanksgiving dinner. Everything seems to be going well until they drop the turkey in the fish aquarium. The family is thankful for all the food and family they do have and enjoy the holiday. I think being appreciative and having a positive attitude is good for children to see through stories and real life. This is a cute story to read to young children during the holidays and even read as an adult to be reminded to appreciate what you have instead of focusing on what you do not.
This is an older book, published in 2000, but the catchy rhyme written in partial cumulative pattern and soft illustrations are perfect for reading aloud with your preschooler. Paige Billin-Frye captures the warmth of the holiday and the loving emotions felt by all, even if there is a disaster!
This short pattern story introduces traditional Thanksgiving foods; as guests arrive at the pot-luck meal, each bearing a familiar dish, we repeat the items from before. The story's comfortable rhythm leads us along until WHOOPS, the turkey slips, flies through the air, and lands in the fish tank! This twist gives the story its theme: we have all we need at our table - good friends and good food.

Cheerful illustrations and various ethnic groups around the table add to the affirming tone.
This is a good book for preschool to second grade. Using this is a great book to use effective questioning, asking about the students special holiday and how they celebrate Thanksgiving. This book also is very culturally diverse in the family and also incorporates the community by inviting the neighbors to their dinner. This is a great book for students to relate to their own real world and connect with others who have similarities.
This book is especially different because it focuses on the letter T! Every sentence begins with the letter T. The book goes through a regular Thanksgiving day at a family's house. It shows how the food is prepared and how it is eaten. When the book finishes it says, "This is Max, who says, "I bet we had the best Thanksgiving yet!" " The website http://www.jacketflap.com/persondetail.asp?person=2107 has information about the author. I had trouble finding a lot of information on Abby Levine. She is also an artist so there are many websites dedicated to her paintings.

This is a cute Poetry book about a family who has picked out the best Turkey, the family is all gathered around waiting for it to come out of the oven. But it doesn't make it to the table. As the mom is bringing it to the table she drops it and it lands in the fish bowl. But, the turkey doesn't make Thanksgiving-family does.
A story of a little boys Thanksgiving of food, family, and that occasional mishap that will be remembered for years to come. Text to self and text to world connections.
