Gonzo Gizmos: Projects & Devices to Channel Your Inner Geek

This book of projects you can put together at home features a number of interesting things I haven't seen before. Although I haven't built any of the projects myself, yet, they seem approachable and worthwhile. However, the book suffers from poor editing. The author has essentially published the same text and photos that are available on his website, which he constantly refers to (as a place to buy components). The photos, which are in color on the website, are reproduced only in black and white, so a great deal of detail is lost. I noticed especially in the radio chapter that there are many inconsistencies in the text. For example, in one project the directions involve some simple soldering which is presented without comment. I found this book on a list of best non-fiction books for children and young adults. What a fantastic book! If you have a child (or adult) that loves science, this book is a wonderful resource. Great science projects with very specific instructions and pictures are included and the best part, is the section 'Why does it do that?' which goes into the theory behind the experiments. My 10 year old son loves this book and reads it constantly. Can't wait to get the sequel...
