AlphaOops!: The Day Z Went First

Very cute, but the point was lost on me.  The dedication is for mixed-up families, given or chosen... but the book doesn't really support that as a theme.  It's just a silly mess.  I suppose some kids would appreciate the fact that sometimes the youngest child wants the latest bedtime, or the oldest wants to take a nap on daddy's lap, but imo that metaphor is too subtle for this bright & energetic book.  And that's fine.... it's ok to just plain enjoy it.

I loved this book! I want this for my classroom. Z decides he wants a turn to be first. Then he allows for other letters to take random turns but then it's hard to know who has had a turn and who hasn't. A finally gets a turn and shows up the other letters how many great things it stands for, including the word Alphabet! This comical and clever rendition of an alphabet book will surely be a favorite with young alphabet learners!

One day Z stands up to the rest of the alphabet and declares he should be first in line for a change. The pandemonium that ensues, with other characters stepping up and out of sequence to go, lends a fantastic silly quality to this ABC book. The lively, colorfully saturated illustrations of personified letters in motion keep the reader's delighted eye moving around the page.

In this easy book, the alphabet goes crazy. It's funnier and crazier than the "normal" alphabet. Only problem I found was that I was starting to get confused about what's left and who already went.

Great artwork with beautiful colors used. The story was adorable and I can see younger kids really enjoying this, although it can probably confused them a little.

Z gets upset that A always gets to go first, so Z starts, followed by Y, X, and W, then P gets upset about always being stuck in the middle. H is happy where she is, so she takes her regular turn, but everyone else is all out of order, which annoys Z because it all takes so long. A gets the big finale.

Awesome! What a cute book. Instead of going in the normal order, Z decides that she should go first and then P starts to take over, and the letters get to mix themselves all around. There is also conversation among the letters about taking turns and things being fair.
