A good book (like all her others). The things I like most about the books are the romance aspect, but more importantly, the fact that each of the siblings has a different issue about God to deal with and I find that Dee Henderson makes the issues real - I can definately relate to a number of the themes and have enjoyed all the books. The ability to make people aware of aspects which might be affecting their relationship with God as well as the solution and the reasoning for making the choice I feel is a necessary one which makes us, the reader, think.
*happy sigh* That one was the best yet!

This was a great listen, fun story -- pure brain candy (and thought provoking) for Christians wanting to read good fiction. I think I liked this book even better than the first in this series (although I liked it, too). The theme of the Guardian really resonated with me at this time in my life: life happens and people lose faith - or - they choose to be Christians and pray through the tough times. Mark O'Malley, the Guardian, is a charming and tough guy, but he is an unbeliever because he lost his mother as a child, despite his prayers for healing. His lady interest is a strong Christian whose world is thrown upside down. Read it to see what happens . . .
This book was very fun to read and KEPT you reading at that. I've come to love Dee Henderson's novels for both the romance and the mystery. Never knew I liked criminal mysteries till I started reading her books. And she's able to put God into it, that's a MAJOR bonus. The characters face real life issues with thier faith. That's probably the number one reason why I love her books. She can use God in a book and make it interesting at the same time.
The Guardian, by Dee Henderson, is the second book in the six book O’Malley series. It details the story of Marcus O’Malley; a US Marshall assigned to investigate the assassination of a judge about to be nominated to the Supreme Court. The O’Malley’s are a group of orphans who grew up in Chicago and became their own family, going so far as to all adopt the same name. There are seven of these siblings, six of which get their own story. Jennifer O’Malley’s story is woven throughout the stories of the others as she struggles with a cancer battle. In this book, Marcus is faced with not only solving the mystery of the assassination and protecting the only witness; he faces his own personal struggle. In each book, the main show more character has some sort of discovery or crisis of faith from which they emerge stronger. I enjoyed this book and the search for the assassin kept me hooked until the end. show less
After reading Kate's story in the Negotiator and seeing the dynamic she had with chosen brothers and sisters, I enjoyed finding out more about Marcus in this book as well as getting to know Lisa better and Marcus' partner Quinn. Enjoyed both the suspense and romance of the book.
Wonderful book! I can't say how many times I've read it. The story never gets old. You fall in love with the characters in this book and find yourself lost when you've read the last page, because whatever book you read next will be ruined on the heels of this one. I absolutely love it!
