With so many colors to choose from, why did Henri Matisse use only three? How can an artist make a three-dimensional picture on a flat sheet of paper? Why is some Aboriginal art described as x-ray style? "M is for Masterpiece", a comprehensive guide to fine art written for children, provides satisfying answers to such questions and more. From ancient cave paintings to Christo's Running Fence, a wide variety of art forms and styles are discussed in details that children will understand and adults will appreciate. "M is for Masterpiece" not only teaches about the great artists and techniques that originated in various parts of the world, but also discusses the elements of painting, art media, and landscapes of the American West. The art show more of photography and architecture is also covered. show less
This is a very informative book but I'm not sure what age group it would really be appropriate for because it is an alphabet book that goes fairly in depth about different works of art, styles and art techniques. Also, some of the alphabet rhymes are a little reaching like "U" is for untitled...which makes sense I guess in the art world but doesn't seem to have much merit to me as a reader.
THIS IS AN ABC BOOK ABOUT ART. ITS A VERY TEXT FILLED BOOK WITH SMALL FONT THAT IS NOT YOUNG CHILD FRIENDLY. THE ART WI STUNNING AND IT IS USED TO EXPLAIN WHAT IS EXPLAINED IN THE TEXT ABOUT OBJECTS, EVENTS, ECT.
using the alphabet, it discusses different artists, and different styles they use. also how they are able to make painting look so realistic, who some artists are, and what art looks like in different places.
