The author takes us through various plants with roots. Trees, flowered plants, and vegetable roots. It shows us roots under a magnifying glass as well. Water is drank and used by plants and then given off as evaporation. Beautiful illustrations give colorful example of the roots in the ground. The author travels to various climates including a desert, tropical forest and deciduous forest.
