Description

When three college besties meet three hot guys in Vegas, anything can—and does—happen in this entry in the New York Times bestselling Wild Seasons series from the authors of The Unhoneymooners and Love and Other Words.
London Hughes is very content to surf daily, tend bar, hang out with her group of friends, and slowly orient herself in the years after college. Everything's going great and according to the non-plan.

But when a wave knocks her for a loop one morning, then Luke Sutter's show more flirtatious smile knocks her for another that evening, she veers slightly off course...and into his path. Sure, he's a total player, but the Why not—it's only one night is a persistent voice in her ear.

For his part, Luke's been on hookup autopilot for so long that he rarely ever pauses to consider what he's doing. But after an amazing time with London, he realizes that he hasn't been moving on from a devastating heartbreak so much as he's been drifting to wherever—and whomever—the current takes him. With London he wants more.

Every relationship involves two people...plus their pasts. And as much as she enjoys her fling with Luke, when London learns about his past—more specifically, who's in it—everything becomes the brand of complicated she strives to avoid. It's up to Luke then to change some things in order to try and ensure he's not something she'll outright avoid as well. Literature. Fiction. Romance.

Having recently discovered the sublime and obsession-inspiring Wild Seasons series by Christina Lauren—jumping in with book 3, DARK WILD NIGHT—I have since been irrevocably smitten and ravenous for more of the talented author duo’s unique brand of transcendent naughtiness. So, you can imagine the euphoria and heady anticipation I felt the moment WICKED SEXY LIAR landed in my giddy, fangirl hands! And, holy hotness, did this book deliver!

Smart, superbly written and sparkling with humor, heart, and endless charm, WICKED SEXY LIAR, positively swept me off my feet! I couldn’t put London and Luke’s story down—solidly immersed well into the night—entranced and joyfully besotted with their show more delightfully entertaining path to forever. With every page I fell harder and faster for the immensely appealing couple, their remarkable chemistry, and searing, enviable passion—reluctantly returning to reality only after re-reading and lingering over the novel’s happy and hopeful epilogue.

I’ll always enjoy the riotous Vegas trio of besties, Mia, Harlow and Lola. However, London’s winning personality stood out, surprised me, and swiftly surpassed all of my expectations. She is the kind of intriguing, worthy, and admirable heroine that you want to hug, emulate, and simply cling to. London is unobtrusively magnetic, bright, witty, self-reliant, self-respecting, and completely at home with herself. It’s freeing to read a female character that is unashamed of her body and unabashed and unapologetic of her carnal desires. She embraces it all and bravely and brazenly asserts herself with Luke—standing up for what she needs, wants, and deserves. I worshipped her for it. After he strolls into London’s life, you know he’s going to be great—so insanely wonderful—but I’m immensely pleased that London makes him work for it. Luke sweats and strains to earn her trust and love because he wisely realizes that she’s the one woman that warrants his all—his everything.

And Luke, mercy, that man! He’s a one-of-a-kind, mold-breaker of a hero so delectably sweet, irresistibly sexy, and hilariously and irrepressibly endearing that I couldn’t help but adore him—despite his initial entrenchment in Manwhoreville. Of course he has his pick of any willing woman any night of the week. He’s a stunningly handsome, talented, attentive, intuitive, and voracious lover. Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to tousle in his sheets for a feverish few hours? But, thankfully, with London, he’s different. She immediately, without any plan or effort, motivates him want to be a better man. Her goodness, spirit, strength, and sunny beauty is a startling revelation to him. She shifts his axis, his priorities rearrange, and he steadily regroups and redeems himself, maturing into the man he was always meant to be.

I loved this lusciously seductive sensation of a romance and couldn’t have asked for a more satisfying conclusion to the Wild Seasons series. My keeper shelf will just have to patiently wait a little while longer as I’m still pawing WICKED SEXY LIARS’s vivid, lawn-green cover, fondly remembering my favorite flirty lines and steamy scenes.

Luke had spent most of his life with Mia until her accident, which changed everything. Now Mia is married to someone else, and Luke sleeps with just about every woman he can. He meets London at a favorite bar where she works and during their one-night-stand, Luke calls her Logan for the entire night. After their one night together, they continue to run into one another, but even though they still feel the attraction, they both agree that it was best for them to just be friendly, especially since London is dealing with severe trust issues as well as being being a friend to Mia and Luke isn't ready to settle down with just one woman. Things begin to change when Luke realizes that he wants to be with London for more than sex. Will they be show more able to overcome their pasts in order to find something more permanent?

Wicked Sexy Liar is a really poor title for this book as lies do not describe the central problem of the plot. Luke and London are extremely likable characters that we get to know as they get to know each other. Their reservations about starting a serious relationship are realistic and fairly common in today's world. The conflicts in the story are enjoyable but a bit tame, and the characters' voices are very similar, but overall, Wicked Sexy Liar is a light, fun read. 3 1/2 stars. I would love to read "Not-Joe's" story, but it wasn't available in the edition of this book that I read.

Can't believe I'm becoming jaded with Christina Lauren novels! How could this be! But listening to this audiobook, I thought, can I take another such "heroine" - there's a sameness to these women - Mia, Harlow, Lola, and this applies to many of their other books outside this Wild Seasons series. I don't find them simpatico. They are often damaged in a cardboard kind of way - whatever I mean by that!@#$!

Nevertheless, the heroes are always drop dead charming, devoted, vulnerable, sexy - irresistible as contemporary romantic protagonists.

Here the relationship is between Luke and London, and there's some of Christina Lauren's best sex/love scenes in this novel, which is why it gets 4 stars instead of the 3 stars it might otherwise get from show more me.

At least I can give credit to the Christina Lauren team for writing a particular kind of novel - very contemporary and sexy - and being very good at it. ... teaching us a little about the hook-up culture and relationships between the sexes among these twenty-somethings city dwellers in the 21C - even if those novels have a sameness which is now dampening my spirits and enthusiasm for them.

I don't know how they do it. I had forgotten who Luke was from the prior books, and was utterly charmed with him. He was no baggage, his character was woman-centric (even if hung out with piggy water polo players) I really got his appeal. London was at times reserved beyond reason - though it was believable - at times it was frustrating because I didn't believe she'd be motivated by what her friends thought, as an example. The chemistry in the book was explosive, and it certainly made me LOL at times.
They also summed up my love-feeling:
"How can he feel both like an adventure and a comfort?"

I loved his lack of reluctance and openness...his vulnerability. Luke just made sense to me-and was totally age appropriate (young, and confident, show more but not overly mature etc)

I just love this writing duo...

I really didn't know what to expect with Wicked Sexy Liar. These two were characters we had only met in passing before and hadn't been anticipating their relationship from the first book.

The more I read this book, the more I enjoyed it. I really liked the relationship that developed between these two. I liked how they had more in common than just physical chemistry and they had that friendship blossoming between them. I definitely fell more in love with them as a couple the more I read.

I also liked how honest these characters were. For a book titled "Wicked Sexy Liar", I really thought more lying show more would be happening but that wasn't the case. These two were so open and had great communication that it made me wonder why they titled the book this.

Not my favourite in the series, but a solid way to end it all I think. Definitely an enjoyable read!

(PS can Margot please have your own story? That would be great thanks!)

This series just completely fizzled on me. I never could get interested in Lucas or London, or really get a read on then as characters in general. They seemed a bit cardboard? There was a lot of telling the reader things that I didn't feel were actually happening. Yeah, disapointing.
