Description
At the age of seventeen, Nora Falcon is already a best-selling author of vampire lit, with fans lining up around the block to read the next installment of her Better off Bled series. So it might seem like she's something special. But at the Nightshade Preparatory Academy for Exemplary Boys and Girls in Beverly Hills, Nora is just another student. One day a handsome stranger shows up at one of Nora's book signings. Reece Rothchild is not only tall, dark, and handsome--he's downright show more irresistible, and he has recently transferred to Nightshade Academy. But Reece is not just eye candy: he's an actual vampire who wants Nora to write a book specifically for vampires--and he's very persistent. So persistent he kidnaps Nora's friends to get her to comply. Nora is torn. If she does what Reece wants, thousands of vampires will converge on an unsuspecting town and use its inhabitants as a human snack bar. If she doesn't, her friends will die. Now Nora must find a way to defeat Reece and save her friends--all while juggling a full course load! show lessTags

I was given a copy for an honest review.
This book was a light-hearted fun California romp that turned into a can of whoop-butt vampire action! Nora goes to a premium high school and is a published author of vampire books. She meets a handsome hunk at her book signing and the action starts soon afterwords.
This was a humorous and fun read. I really didn't like Abby, I thought she was a crap friend. Like a "frenemy" haha. I hope this book starts a series!

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Fantasy and reality collide when vampire author Nora Falcon discovers that vampires... are real. A quick read, this novel is fun to read, but has enough plot holes, coincidences, and omissions, that the reader does not fully believe in the world. Still, I look forward to a sequel and discovering how some of the plot lines resolve.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Vampire Book of the Month Club is the newest young adult novel by Rusty Fischer. Like many of his other works, this novel focuses on a teenage protagonist who must deal with the supernatural world. The book aims to be funny and exciting with lots of action and high school drama, but I felt that overall, the book was just cheesy.
By day, Nora Falcon, protagonist, attends an exclusive, private high school with some of the most beautiful, rich, and famous teenagers in Beverly Hills. By night, she works on her latest vampire novels and signs books for some of her most loyal fans, the vannabes (vampire wannabes). Her best friends are Abby, a B-movie actress famous for her starring role in a series of zombie movies and her crush, Wyatt, a show more sportswear model. The book begins with Nora meeting a more-sleazy-than-charming but very handsome guy at her book signing, and then her world is turned upside-down. She must fight vampires, protect her friends, and survive the challenges of high school all while trying to finish her next book before her deadline!
It was fun, but the confusing personality switches and vague world setup kept the story from flowing well. I found that most of the characters were not very likable, and some of the main characters did not stick to their original personalities. show less

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Kept moving with excitement and eagerness to find out what is going to happen next. Aimed at high schoolers, the characters certainly met the criteria. Scary parts, evildoers, good friends and bad, no gratuitous erotica. Enjoyed by grandma, mom, and teen girl.

This story is a real page turner. The teenage female lead and her supporting characters are constantly placed in peril while the author keeps the reader engaged and invested in the outcome.
