He Never Came Back

Tightly plotted and paced, this fantastic mystery thriller does not waste a word. Every phrase, every action is a clue. The twists and turns are classics in terms of their innovation and extreme coincidences, the latter of which can be forgiven for how it allows all the pieces to slot satisfyingly together, with no character extraneous.

A fantastically pulpy cocktail of the Golden Age. I will be keeping an eager eye out for more McCloys.

Another new author experience.

Having spent laxt Xmas/ New Year in NY , enjoyed the talk of tht city again, though of a time of some 50-60 years earlier.

Quite a short book and lots of action. Certainly lots of movement and a tall story but enjoyable.

I spotted one of the devices towards teh end but not the deouement.

Will try more of McCloy's books of which I have a few.
