Riordan fans who have read previous books in the Kane Chronicles will enjoy this adaptation, rife with action set pieces, love triangles, magic, and humor. Unfortunately, Riordan’s blockbuster writing style doesn’t quite translate well into a single graphic novel volume. So much happens on each individual page that panels become a confusing and frustrating jumble of busy action and even busier word balloons. Plot points and new characters frequently get lost in the chaos, and this reader didn’t have the time or focus to appreciate the story’s diverse and likeable cast. Fans of the book series show more will be most likely to enjoy this adaptation, but you may as well point them to the original book instead. show less
In this exciting second installment of the three-book series, Carter and Sadie, offspring of the brilliant Egyptologist Dr. Julius Kane, embark on a worldwide search for the Book of Ra, but the House of Life and the gods of chaos are determined to stop them. This non-stop thrill ride is adapted and brought to life by Orpheus Collar, who developed the first Kane Chronicles graphic novel and worked on The Lightning Thief, The Graphic Novel; The Lost Hero, The Graphic Novel; and many other titles including The Amazing Spider-Man and Ultimate X-Men.
