Killing the Beasts

There were some things I really liked, like the nonlinear storytelling and how it took me by surprise, but the end was terrible, and the audio reader didn't pause between sections.

I really enjoyed this book. After a bit I did realise who the killer was, but it in no way detracted from my enjoyment. It was more, "How is he going to be caught and then what?" The characters were realistic and like people you are likely to meet from time to time.

Interesting for the authentic Manchester locations but tailed off for me once the main character went schizophrenic

Manchester 2002 and with the Commonwealth Games finished DI Jon Spicer, has his first case as lead investigator - a murder. Meanwhile his friend Tom Benwell is suffering from the pressure of his job. Spicer has no time to help his friend as another murder occurs, and another. But what links the victims.
An enjoyable story and a good start to the series.
