2below For those who want to learn more about the man behind the music, his collection of prose and poetry is a good place to start. Moon Walk is a cautious presentation of Michael Jackson's life but Dancing the Dream, like most of MJ's music, reveals the human being inside the celebrity.

This autobiography was enlightening in all areas of Michael's life, especially when he was younger and growing up/performing with his brothers. It also emphasized how dedicated he was to honing his amazing talents in music, dance, and performing. He pioneered some new dance moves and the making of short story music videos, wrote some amazing music, and was a perfectionist. Though he worked hard, he knew how to play hard too!
This seemed like a very careful biography to me, with an obvious agenda to do a little damage control with the press. Seeing as it was written in 1988, it's interesting to read it knowing what we know now about Michael Jackson. I think it would be safe to say he was not entirely truthful about certain things. Also, I found the writing to be almost childlike, but that somehow made it more enduring in an unexplainable way.
The sweet kindness shows through. The ultimate professional perfectionist is the focus of the book. The open passion for so many aspects of life is there. The honesty & humble pride of Michael Jackson is displayed on every page. Written before his run in with the law, etc. he is still very guarded about his personal life -- no wonder. Had this book been written near the end of his life, would it have shown bitterness & a ragged spirit. I think it might. What sorrow for us all, that those giving us so much are torn to shreds in public. Thanks for everything, Michael. You'll always be loved for the person you were and the talents with which you energized the entire global village.
My mother owned this book when it came out and I havent read it since I inherited some years ago until right after Michael's passing. After everything that's been said and done about Michael, its bittersweet to have returned to his own words after so many years.
I still have my original from 1988. I read it back then and again when he passed in 2009. It was a good read and offered some insight into this wonderful singers life. I've been a diehard fan since 1988 or so, but I first saw him as a young girl long before that. This book is a must read for any Michael fan.
Great Condition, Autographed book by Michael Jackson.
