Six episodes made for TV in 1984, but we watched it straight through as a three-hour epic. Exciting, well made, with extremely good special effects for the era. A few plot holes, perhaps, but it was intended for children and although a tad violent in places, the caricatured nature of some of the scenes takes the edge of it.
I don't know why it took us so long to sit down and watch this - we liked it very much, including the 'extras' taken from TV shows that interviewed the actors around the time it was first broadcast.
Recommended as a Christmas-themed DVD for adults or children of about eight or nine and upwards.
