The day after Mike finds out Aunt Agnes has made him the sole beneficiary of her estate, including the Robertson Ranch & the beautiful Queen Anne house on it, she's murdered. Aunt Agnes was revered by many of the town residents, but she had her enemies as well. Did a local judge, a real estate developer, a nearby rancher whose cattle desperately show more need water from Aunt Agnes' property, a Vietnam vet who's recently been evicted from the shack on her property or Mike's newly discovered cousin murder her?" -- show lessTags

Murder in Calico Gold: A Cedar Bay Cozy Mystery (Cedar Bay Cozy Mystery Series Book 6) by Dianne Harman is an enjoyable book to read. This cozy mystery has lots of twists & turns that kept me guessing.
It also has some good recipes. I'll try some of them.
Kelly & her husband, Sheriff Mike go to visit his Aunt Agnes in Calico Gold. He described her as: "quite opinionated & a real spitfire. She didn't mince words, & everyone knew exactly how she felt about a subject....She was tall & had a ramrod straight posture. She wore glasses that were attached to a necklace so she wouldn't lose them. She always wore pants. I guess that was because she rode so much & was out on the ranch with animals almost every day. I remember my mother kidding her show more about it & saying she didn't have a feminine bone in her body, & she should have been a man."
She had lots of friends, but some enemies as well. She was killed the night after Kelly & Mike found out she was leaving the property to him. He became a suspect. Their job is to clear his name.
It's a good book & I recommend reading it. It's a stand alone even if it's Book 6 in the series. show less
