Jean Craighead George is at her best describing ecology, animal interactions and wilderness navigation, and here again she excels. The plot, however, is paper thin if a little complex. Read for the descriptions of the Okefenokee Swamp, and perhaps a bit about kinds of people who interact with this precious wilderness. ( )

Tree Castle Island is about a young boy who goes on a journey through a swamp and finds something completely unexpected. During his journey he lives off the land and practices his independence. Overall, I would completely recommend this book! ( )

This ecology-related novel is a good choice for students as an ecology-related novel study in life science. ( )
