Aww, I love Mike and Tyesha! They're an amazing addition to the cast. Ms. Marvel is getting busy, busy, busy. How will she deal with everything that's happening in her life?
Also, that interracial wedding where Tyesha and Aamir wanted to show the other that they want to be a part of each other cultures was amazing! ( )

This volume is my favorite so far. Kamala is struggling with her commitments at school, at home, to her friends and family, while trying hard to be an Avenger. Superheroing takes a backseat to relationships. Bruno gets a completely new take, and Kamala has to re-evaluate her friendship with him. New characters pump up the diversity: Mike is a girl who is not thin (like everyone is in comics), has two moms and blue hair; Aamir gets an African-American bride and her family. We see issues of reconciling cultures, the impact of being famous, and most of all, Kamala must decide what truly is important. All that with great artwork and well-written, humorous dialogue. Loved it! ( )

I love this series so much. It's cleverly written, and it doesn't skimp on any aspect of Kamala's life - she's an Avenger, she's 16, she's a Pakistani Muslim girl...and that's all treated so well. A pleasure to read. ( )

I've enjoyed previous volumes of this title, but this one left me cold. Though this is volume 5 of the trade paperbacks, it collects issues #1-5 of yet another Marvel numbering reboot. While the writer is still on board, she seems to be trying to take the book in a slightly different direction by amping up the wackiness. Ho-hum action sequences are driven by brainwashed neighbors and clones of the protagonist. A couple of romances are introduced, but are handled too quickly and abruptly to have much impact. ( )
