I liked this book for a few reasons. For one, I liked the tone of the poems written in the story. Each poem has a silly tone; some even made me giggle. I also liked that the silly tone was supported with the creative illustrations. For example, one of the poems is about Christmas caroling. The point of view for this poem is from a child who is describing his family singing Christmas carols. The character explains that his “Dad sings like a buffalo” and his “Mother like a moose.” The illustration for this text is of his parents having heads of the respective animal he describes that they sound like. I also liked the characters used in the different poems. Each poem had a different point of view of a child during the wintertime. I show more think by having different children be the narrator for the poems allows younger students to be able to relate to them. There may be some parts of the poems where students can reflect and think about different activities that they take part in during the winter that are similar to the activities the characters participate in. There is no major message of It’s Christmas, but it could be used as an enjoyable book to read during the wintertime to younger students. show less
This collection has a couple duds, but "Our Christmas Tree" and "Singing Christmas Carols" are laugh-out-loud funny -- very true to life, I think. Fun.
This is a cute Christmas book that contains twelve fun poems for children. Each of the poems shows different holiday traditions that people look forward to each year. These traditions include things such as Christmas trees, Santa Claus, snow, Christmas carols, gifts, and mistletoe.
I would read this to children in Kindergarten through third grade. It is somewhat like a chapter book in that it is long and divided into different sections with the start of each new poem. This is a great book to read to children during the Chirstmas holiday because of the many traditions it talks about; it gets children even more excited. Another good time to read it is when students are learning about rhyming words because it is a book that is full of these show more words. show less

LOTS of fun ... even the 11-year-old liked it. Will be back to do full review.
Adult Reader Reaction: This is a cute story, with a nice father-son connection that you don't often see in holiday books. I didn't like the illustrations. The colors were T-O-O vivid. I felt as though the book deserved "softer" (less computer-looking) images.
Pros: The magic of Santa lives on in this holiday story featuring Father Christmas and his son.

I really enjoyed reading the book, "It's Christmas!" I would read this book to second or third graders. One really good thing about this book is it is a chapter book. The chapters have one or two pages, but it still teaches them how to read a chapter book. The book also uses rhyming. Another wonderful aspect in this book is that is puts all the christmas events in order. This book is in the four step plan to reading. Step one is shared reading, beginning reading, reading with help, reading Alone, and advanced reading. This book is level three. The book talks about making a christmas list, mailing christmas cards, and waiting for santa. I really think this would be a good book to have in your collection to pull out before christmas holidays.
"It's Christmas" is a great book for kids. It has picture that are symmetrical and it exhibit poetry to kids at a young age. This book is mainly writttten about a young boy who is getting ready for Christmas with his family. Shom good thing and bad things happen in this story.
This is a great book compiled of small Christmas rhymes dealing with all aspects of Christmas. It is fun to read and kids will laugh the throughout the whole thing.
