The first non-Sharon McCone book I've read by Muller. This one reminded me alot of Tami Hoag although a little bit less creepy than Hoag can be. The plot was OK, but I thought the two main characters really carried the book. A good strong female character with issues and a complex male character with issues. I liked it and didn't see the ending telegraphed. Overall, good but not great.
Great, nearly breathless tale of the vertices of a lovers' triangle" Reed, Louise Bryant, and Eugene O'Neill. Then, that triangle and the two key pieces of Louise and Reed land in the Communist Revolution and both die young, painfully and tragically for it.
This was a pageturner. I couldn't put it down. A young girl is spotted beside her broken down car by a number of people. When the girl is found dead, Rhonda Swift, the local sheriff's deputy (and one who spotted the girl by the road) is haunted by her not stopping to help. When other people start dying the town is brought back to a mass-murder spree that happened there 30 years ago. Excellent
Picked up towards the end. Not a bad read, but have read better.
I'm a fan of Marcia Muller's Sharon McCone series. This is a new character Deputy Rhoda Swift and it takes place just outside of SAn Francisco in an small town.
My first foray into Muller, I'm ready for the rest!
Different characters and locale but still a very good bookj.
