I’d agree with the blurb on Goodreads that says this is the ultimate technical manual for anyone who flies a helicopter or wants to learn how to fly one. It contains all of the information a newbie ought to know and that experienced pilots would do well to remember (for the latter, the chapters on decision making and handling emergencies, as well as the one on medical issues, are essential reading). I have no intention of flying a helicopter or learning to do so, but I find the subject matter interesting. Or at least the actual helicopter business—no matter how many times I read about basic aerodynamics, it puts me right to sleep.

Some of the images could be made a little brighter or clearer, there’s inconsistent capitalization of show more image labels, and perhaps a copyeditor could have gone through and fixed up the presentation of abbreviations (making sure they were all expanded on first use and not alternating between the abbreviation and the expanded term). But of course these are things an editor such as I notice. For the target audience, this does a good job. show less
