Based on the idea that active participation stimulates the processes by which learning takes place, this document provides teachers and students with a variety of information and learning activities dealing with chemistry. Basic concepts about chemistry are presented through the use of laboratory experiments, demonstrations, worksheet exercises and games. Various activities focus on: (1) matter; (2) molecules; (3) atoms; (4) elements and compounds; (5) chemical symbols; (6) air (as a mixture show more of gases); (7) the periodic table; (8) how chemical symbols are used; (9) acids and bases; (10) precipitates; (11) emulsifiers; (12) solutions; (13) fission and fusion; and (14) isotopes. The amount of time required for completion of the activities varies from a few minutes to an entire class period.
