Empty Bodies

Empty Bodies by Zach Bohannon is the first book in a series of post-apocalyptic zombie thrillers and, although he brings nothing new to the genre, it is an exciting story. We follow a number of people through the turning and the survivors are slowly but surely making their way to each other. Some are together by the end of this book and I suspect the others will probably join them in book number two.

The characters are converging with each other in Tennessee and there are connections that we, the readers know about that have yet to be revealed to the characters. For example hotel clerk, Jessica is travelling with Melissa, who is another character’s mother. Also in case we tire of zombie violence, the author has provided us with a power show more hungry bad guy who has a score to settle with our group.

I have all six of the books in this series and fully intend on continuing on with the series. I am looking forward to reading more about Jessica, Will and Gabriel in their terrifying journey for survival. show less

I had a difficult time keeping track of characters as the author jumped back and forth between different survivors and their experiences. Once I got half way through, it was easier. Each story of survival is different and each of the characters had their own special strengths and finally bringing them all together at the end. The last sentence in the story threw me for a loop, now I'll have to get the next installment to see what happens. The story was captivating and kept my attention - especially if the chapter ended in a cliff hanger - which many of them were. Great job Mr. Bohannon!

Bohannon's Empty Bodies is a fast-paced tale of a post-apocalyptic world where perceptions are constantly changing, characters are pushed from day-to-day-normality into survival mode, and strangers become the greatest confidantes. The book sucks readers in with page one, and as a new take on so-called zombies, it immediately turns into a fun and entertaining read. The characters are engaging, Bohannon's writing is well worth the time, and the story itself is frighteningly believable.

All together, this really is a thrill of a book, and comes absolutely recommended!

Action from the start and the pace doesn't slow down in this serial adventure. Interesting characters, will continue with the next installment.
