This book is wonderful to promote text to self connections. The beautiful illustrations plus the personification added on every page an element that the children could relate to their lives and promote discussion on the noises things make around them.
This is a beautiful rhyming book about common sounds that children may hear outside of their homes. It discusses sounds of the wind, crickets, dogs, cows, and even gates and sheets on a clothesline. Each page has some rhyming words and repetition for ease and flow. I think this is nice for a classroom library because not only does it deal with sounds of nature, but also may help children understand some of the night sounds they may hear, and help them be less afraid at nighttime.
A lovely song written so beautifully, its not only about the wind, but also about the different animals, its thoughtful.
Beautiful illustrations by James Ransome accompany a poetry like prose explaining nighttime noises. I think this could be a storytime book for pre-k up to maybe even second grade.
Its is a good book that talks about the different noises you can hear during night time.
