Barbara Levy Boxer served as the junior U.S. senator from California from 1993 through her retirement in 2016. A lifelong Democrat, she served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1983 to 1993. Married for more than fifty years, she lives in California, where she raised two children and has four grandchildren.
