This is a book about a boy named Oskar and his bear friend Theodore go to the library to find a good book to read. While they are there they have to deal with a multiple-headed monster that is destroying the library disrupting their quiet reading space and wanting to eat donuts. This is a fairly good book because of the personification that was shown through Theodore the bear and his ultimate desire to read and eat his donuts in peace.
A pair of brothers (or brother and monster?) go to the library with their dad, but their day is disrupted by a many-headed monster who, upon finding books not delicious, wants to eat them instead. They distract it with donuts and explain that books are for reading, not eating ("WHAT? You mean this whole restaurant is filled with things we can't eat?!!").
This is part of my 365 Kids Books challenge. For an explanation see my review for [b:101 Amazing Facts about Australia|21332402|101 Amazing Facts about Australia (Countries of the World)|Jack Goldstein|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1394253825l/21332402._SY75_.jpg|25417728] You can see all the books on their own shelf.
Strong color palette, a casual feel to the art, bold black lines. Umm, good looking bakery display of donuts. Theodore is fun in his plaid pants and red stocking hat. Love the book titles, many of which appear to be shout outs to friends and favorite writers, but some such as Miniature Squirrel Paintings of the 14th Century are just funny, as is the creative use of staplers. The show more monster is not very scary despite its enormous size what with never seeing it altogether and the use of sprinkles. Most heart-warming of all is the crazy load of books they're returning and the next load they're taking home.

This is such a funny book that brings up how one quick trip to the library can open up a world full of adventures. I would probably use this book much younger grades, to introduce them to the library, and all of the adventures the library can help them go on.
The kids loved the monster and it leant itself well to reading aloud in funny voices. I loved the library setting.
This book is about two brothers who go to the library on Saturday mornings. One day, they hear a very loud noise that disrupts their reading time. It was green monsters who were destroying the library because they thought it was a bad restaurant. The librarian helped the monsters out and read them a story. One of the brothers gives the monsters donuts that settle them down. He knew that monsters love donuts because he previously had read them in a book. This book teaches kids that libraries are meant to keep quiet and that reading books can be handy and gives people more knowledge on certain things.
Librarians are not babysitters. One donut a week is plenty, don't buy more for later and put them under your hat. How are these two brothers? Why does Dad go off to the 'nap floor?'
I've enjoyed other books by Ohara, but this seems more like something he thought he could sell to librarians because Ms Watson gets to be a hero. Um, no.
