Good, very interesting case, but it got a little bogged down in the Louisiana details. Could've done with less of that. Very interested in the three sons and what happened in Toms River, though. McGinniss is great.
Because I work at Lehigh University, where Marshall's son was a student, I decided to read this book. It is a sad book depicting greed and the breakdown of the American family. Basically, I came away with the affirmation that what goes on behind closed doors is very different than the masks worn to portray what we as American's portray as success.
3704. Blind Faith, by Joe McGinniss (read 23 Feb 2003) Because I so liked Fatal Vision (read 5 Jan 1985) and Cruel Doubt (read 11 Nov 2002), I read this. It is not as well done as those books. The book changes the names of many persons involved, all of which real names can be found in the New Jersey Supreme Court decision on the accused murderer: State v. Marshall, 586 A. 2d 85 (1991). There is no suspense in the book, and much whining and extravagant bathos.
A good story based on true events. It was a bit hard to get into, but overall an entertaining read.
Joe McGinniss writes some of the best true crime stories. Wealthy New Jersey family with unfaithful husband who murders wife and then attempts to get away with her murder.
Not as good as some of his others. Audiobook. Didn't like the narrator too much.
abridged version.
