This is the first book I've read by Beth Gutcheon. I really enjoyed it. The story is about 5 women who meet at "fat camp" and the fortunes they are told. The narrative then follows them for the next year and shows how much of the fortunes come true. There was a little too much politics for my liking, but overall I thought it was a fresh, smart take on the "female friendship" story.
I loved this book about 5 women who meet for the first time at an exclusive fat farm and forge such close bonds during the week they're there that they vow to come again the next year. They also keep in contact and help each other throughout the coming year. Thus, the reader gets to see their 'real' lives and how they grow and change as the months unfold. I liked these women, each of whom is brave in her own way. Recommended.
This was REALLY good. Better than I was expecting since I normally read mass market fiction that most would call airport fiction or grocery store fiction. I read for escape, not to grown brain cells. I don't normally like fiction that has lots of story lines that I have to keep track of.
Really liked this but it left too much hanging! I wanted to know more!
A good beach read: Five women of varying ages meet during a weeklong upscale health spa getaway. Their lives are changed not only by the rigors of the spa but also by the lifelong friendships that they establish.
Too much political agenda. Would have been better to strive for a neutral voice in regard to political party affiliation. I know who she voted for.
okay book ... nothing special ... seems like I've read it before but pretty sure that I haven't ... probably just a familiar story line recycled ... had hoped to read another of her books but now I'm not sure I will ...
