Description
Zora is an American Squirrel Hound--or that is what her owner, Mark, calls her. She and her best friend Jackie love to go on all sorts of adventures together. In Zora and the Greyhounds, Zora dreams of racing at the dogtrack, but the other dogs say she can't because she's not a Greyhound. She learns that with hard work, Jackie's support, and a little luck, there's nothing she can't do!Member Reviews
Zora and the Greyhounds by Mark AJ Guilliatt is a delightful children's book that will engage those readers who are starting to read "chapter books."
Zora is a rescue dog who is cute and fast, but not a purebred. Her owner, Mark, would proudly tell her that she was an American Squirrel Hound. She believed him and proudly shared that information with other dogs. They would laugh at her and tell her that there was no such breed. Because Zora was so fast, she wanted to race against the greyhounds at the race track. She and her friend Jackie (Mark's other dog) began to work out and practise running every day to help Zora achieve her dream. Unfortunately, things did not go smoothly for Zora.
This book teaches lessons about perseverance, show more friendship & determination. It also deals with teasing and self-confidence. A great little book to use when learning about values and character traits. I would recommend that this book be in all school libraries as well as late primary classroom libraries.
