I really enjoyed this book and read it in 24 hours. There is an explosion on the Encounter that put Riley St Joe and her grandfather Emile Labreque, an oceanographer, in grave danger. A year later they are still trying to find the answers to what happen. FBI agent John Straker is living in a cabin of Emile's on a small island recovering from gun shot wounds when Riley shows up. They have known each other as children but never got along. Before Riley can leave, a dead body floats up near the island. As they join forces to try and solve the mystery of what happened that day to the Encounter, they and family members of Riley & her grandfather are placed in danger.
Several times I thought I knew who was involved but after another chapter I show more would change my mind. That made me keep reading to find out what happened. A very good story. I would recommend reading this book if you like Carla Neggers. show less
