This might be my new favorite historical romance. It was just so cozy and girly and fun from beginning to end -- the kind of book you want to live inside. Juliana was an adorable sweetheart of a character and I loved her. James was wonderful, too; they were a perfect match.
As always with Royal’s books, there were a lot of humorous parts, which is great. I’ve got a family member in the hospital right now and this was the perfect read to take my mind off of stressful things :).
PS - There is a clean (no love scenes) version of this book available, too.

Very good book. Lauren Royal seems to know her history better than many authors who write about this time period, which creates a rich and vibrant canvas on which to paint her stories. James is an Earl, and a doctor who runs a clinic attempting to wipe out smallpox in London. A widower who still grieves his lost wife, he recognizes the necessity of marrying, and sets out to find himself a wife. Juliana is a matchmaker - generally a character type I find intensely annoying, but Royal carries it off while only giving me a twinge or two of discomfort. She decides to set up James with a friend of hers who has been forced into a marriage she does not want - a match that is complicated when she finds herself falling for him herself. Well show more written and with emotionally complex and well-developed characters, the reader feels for the characters along the way, through the trials and suprises that await them. Rabck bookbox from lauraloo29; very well written Regency romance. The author did her research homework and it shows. Julianna is playing matchmaker. Her friend is betrothed to the wrong man. And Aunt Frances maybe isn't too old - she might like Amanda's betrothed better. And, maybe James' mother and aunts could use some dancing too. And all the while, she's imagining herself marrying the duke, not realizing the right man for her is right beside her.
