LIttle Chimp sees lots of hugs in the forest and talks about them all- but realizes quickly he would like a hug. Great for young kids- wonderful with my three year old. She really feels like she is reading and we get to work on expressing feelings by saying the word "Hug" in different tones. It does get a little old the 100th time we've read it, just since discovering it about 6 weeks ago.
Very short and slight. Cute enough, but even my inner toddler wants more substance.
Bobo, the little monkey, is walking through the forest and everywhere he turns, he sees hugs! So many parents and their babies hugging each other: elephants, snakes, giraffes. But then he begins to worry because he wants a hug, too. The kindly elephant picks him up and helps him look for his special hug. He sees more hugging animals, but none of those hugs are his. Bobo gets very upset and begins wailing. The other animals gather around, wondering what to do. Then, out of the jungle Mommy comes running for her little Bobo. Now there are joyous hugs all around.

Alborough uses the same 3 words throughout the book, Hug, Mommy, and Bobo, which makes this book great for babies and toddlers (it’s also available as a board book). The words show more are in speech bubbles, making it easy for youngsters to follow along. The illustrations carry most of the weight in this story, showing Bobo’s increasingly worried face as he searches for his mother. Alborough makes good use of the pages, some are full 2 page spreads, while others are broken up into panels that provide close ups and move the story forward. The compositions are varied and visually appealing and the colors are bright and inviting.

One that very young readers can easily read on their own, with warm illustrations.
A cute little chimpanzee named Bobo wanders away from its mother as it watches other wild animals affectionately hug their offspring. The animals all pitch in to help find the one Bobo wants to hug.

A cute story is told with just three words and some very adorable pictures.
How many times has one just wanted something as simple as a hug? Bobo was seeing everyone hugging everywhere he went. He wished he could have someone hug him. He was yearning for a hug. Finally, his mother came and hugged him! This made him happy again and realized that he could hug all of his friends that were there as well. Sometimes, all it takes is a hug to make someone feel better. It is something simple, but it is meaningful. After Bobo got his hug, he felt secure and wanted again just from a simple hug.
This book is a cute little board book that shows the relationship of a little monkey in search of his mother. The little monkey goes around the jungle in search of his mother by seeing all the other animals hugging each other. Throughout the book the monkey longs for a hug. The only word in the book is HUG so it is a good early reader. The illustrations of the book are detailed and done very well. This book shows different animals of the wild and the jungles. A teacher could use this book to show kids about animals. This book is rather simplistic so it might not be used in the classroom setting. It’s a good book for parents to read to kids. This book is predictable in the sense that you assume the monkey is going to find his mother in show more the end. show less
