Henrik Nordbrandt's studies of Oriental languages at the University of Copenhagen and the more than 15 years he has lived abroad in Turkey, Greece, and Italy have left a deep mark on his poetry. From his position outside of Danish culture, he has become a sensitive cultural critic. Nordbrandt's poetry, written in the modernist tradition, pits the show more mysticism and sensuality of the South against the cold rationality of the North.
